Break is OFFICIALLY over!


We made it through our first week back to school! Ecrissa has been doing a wonderful job and Mommy and Jaryse are making it through! Thank goodness for Princess Mia!!!! Jaryse has really taking a liking to Princess Diaries 2 and is happy to watch it all the way through 2 or three times a day! He even is beginning to say lines with the characters and sing the songs with them!!!! He laughs and laughs and is even laughing before the funny part happens! I am thankful, because I can actually get some work done!!!

This weekend we are taking a 2 hour trek down south to a town called Jacmel. It is a beautiful coastal village that has wonderful Haitian history. I received a call from a friend of mine that has a mission down there, and apparently there is a little girl (age is guessed to be just under 2) with some sort of handicap that has been abandoned to die at a local hospital. I am going down to evaluate the little girl and hopefully help place her in some sort of orphanage or find someone to are for this little girl. So far, all but one orphanage has said no because she has special needs. The other one has said maybe, and the final answer will depend on my evaluation and how severe she is and what other medical issues she has. Please pray for this little girl, her future, and myself, my friend Kim and my little ones as we travel to Jacmel this weekend. I will keep you posted and share pictures as soon as I have access to electricity and internet again!

I am back!!! Overwhelmed with gratitude!

Yesterday was a hard one for me!  Not the hard that has you sad and crying or feeling beat up or anything.  But, the hard was keeping my brain focused! LOL!  My brain is a hot mess people!!!  I feel like I have so many loose ends to tie up before we leave for China in 9 days....yes, I said it, 9 days!!!!!  And my brain does not stay on one topic or project or even thought long enough to complete ANYTHING!!! LOL Insomnia is my close friend when I get like this!  I will fall asleep as soon as I get into bed, into a deep beautiful sleep....for 2 hours. Then: BOOM! Wide awake! Wide awake with a brain that runs in circles! LOL!!!! So, I blog! hahaha!  It's about 4:30 in the morning and as I sit here at my computer, I hear the wind and the rain outside. Processing adoption!

Processing adoption has been a huge focus at our house lately!  Not paper processing....emotional cognitive processing of adoption.  It is amazing! Amazingly hard, amazingly beautiful, amazingly confusing, amazingly enlightening, amazingly hurtful, amazingly joyful, amazingly bonding, amazingly tearful, amazingly exhausting and amazingly energizing.  And amazingly much more than that!!!! :) I was never one that could talk about my feelings very well.  This is not a good weakness to have when you are an adoptive parent!  It is ESSENTIAL that I talk about feelings and help my kid process through the difficult parts of their life stories.  Thank goodness for a village of other adoptive parents, social workers and counselors and even teachers who have come alongside me to help me make sure I handle this delicate subject to the best of my ability!
