Loving life, moving forward, and thrilled to be a mom!!!

Life is about to get very interesting for this little princess! I am pleased to announce that we got to finally schedule the Cochlear Implant Surgery for Ecrissa!!!! After lots of tests to be sure that she is a medical candidate and has the potential to benefit from this surgery, it was scheduled for January 13 2010!!! YAY!!! I am happy, excited, and a bit nervous too! I know that this is going to be a trying time for all of us. She'll be going through some pain, lots of adjustments, lots of therapy, and all sorts of new experiences. I am so excited for her, yet I know that it's not going to be an easy road, especially at first!


These two previous pictures were taken before her little ballet performance that she was so privileged to be a part of. SHE. LOVED. IT!!!! Her ballet group got to perform at the intermission of a ballroom dance competition and she had so much fun on stage performing in front of all those people! She is NOT shy!!!! She came out skipping, waving and bowing way before it was time to bow!!! LOL!!! She is full of energy and she loves to dance!

Jaryse refuses to admit that he's tired. Then........he conks out in the funniest positions, like sitting up!!!!! He refused to take a nap the other day, then 2 minutes later, I found him sitting up on the couch where he was watching the movie that I had put in for Ecrissa, sound asleep! He's so funny!!!!
Same with the picture below! We had been home for him to take a nap. He kept telling me he was NOT tired, and he did not fall asleep. Until we were at Ecrissa's ballet performance, in which he must have decided was not worth watching and he again, slept sitting up!

Hope you are all having a wonderful week! It's been a great one for us! Some how this week we've had time to chill on the couch together and we've not been running around like crazy people, but the weird thing is, that I've actually worked more this week than some weeks that seemed much crazier! I think it's my new commitment to not being perfect!!!! Read the previous post if you are confused! But, seriously, I really have allowed myself to slow down, live life and just be still at times! It is so nice! But, if you want to pee in a perfectly clean toilet, DON'T come to my house right now! But, if you want to hang out on the couch and color and read bedtime stories, or watch a movie with some popcorn, come on over!!!!

I am back!!! Overwhelmed with gratitude!

Yesterday was a hard one for me!  Not the hard that has you sad and crying or feeling beat up or anything.  But, the hard was keeping my brain focused! LOL!  My brain is a hot mess people!!!  I feel like I have so many loose ends to tie up before we leave for China in 9 days....yes, I said it, 9 days!!!!!  And my brain does not stay on one topic or project or even thought long enough to complete ANYTHING!!! LOL Insomnia is my close friend when I get like this!  I will fall asleep as soon as I get into bed, into a deep beautiful sleep....for 2 hours. Then: BOOM! Wide awake! Wide awake with a brain that runs in circles! LOL!!!! So, I blog! hahaha!  It's about 4:30 in the morning and as I sit here at my computer, I hear the wind and the rain outside. Processing adoption!

Processing adoption has been a huge focus at our house lately!  Not paper processing....emotional cognitive processing of adoption.  It is amazing! Amazingly hard, amazingly beautiful, amazingly confusing, amazingly enlightening, amazingly hurtful, amazingly joyful, amazingly bonding, amazingly tearful, amazingly exhausting and amazingly energizing.  And amazingly much more than that!!!! :) I was never one that could talk about my feelings very well.  This is not a good weakness to have when you are an adoptive parent!  It is ESSENTIAL that I talk about feelings and help my kid process through the difficult parts of their life stories.  Thank goodness for a village of other adoptive parents, social workers and counselors and even teachers who have come alongside me to help me make sure I handle this delicate subject to the best of my ability!
