Art, Ecrissa, and her friend!!!

So, I think, Ecrissa has an imaginary friend and she is so cute with this little friend. She will often look off to the the side and use sign language with this little friend. Sometimes I'll tell Ecrissa to "come" and she'll actually look up at her "friend" and sign "wait", telling her friend to wait for her there!!! It's so cute. Anyway, the two video's are with my friend Art, who apparently was introduced to Ecrissa's friend. He even got to share his food with her! My digital camera takes video without sound, so there isn't any sound with this, but really, the only sound missing is Ecrissa's giggling all the way through!!!!!! This is the second bit, where you can actually see Ecrissa giggle!!!!! My little girl sure does keep me on my toes and laughing!!!! Gotta love her to pieces!!!!!

The gymnast turned soccer player????

Image
A new adventure for me has taken place!! The high school girls at the school that I work at began practicing for their soccer season in Januaray. Well, as the coach contacted every other school in Port au Prince, he discovered that no other schol had a girls soccer team this year. Bummer. But, the girls decided that they wanted to play and practice anyway. So, for about 4 months they have had practice 2x a week, but were not able to play any games. So, a friend of mine and I were talking and we decided that we should put together a team and play against the girls. OH MY!!! I was a gymnast and a runner and have never played soccer ever! Oh well, we tried it anyway and it's been a blast!!!! Some of the other teachers, mothers and other women from the area have gotten together and have played the girls four times now! The first game we lost really bad, we didn't even score. The second game, we still lost, but at least we scored a point. The third game we took them int...

Happy Birthday Ecrissa!

Image
Well, She's 5 years old!!!! That is just amazing to me!!! Ecrissa's birthday was yesterday and she had a wonderful day. First thing in the morning, I wanted her to know that it was her special day, so I told her with sign language that it was her birthday and gave her a little present to open! She was thrilled. Her little face just lit up with excitement. At school, we had a little party with cupcakes (and candles!), singing, and playing games and she enjoyed every minute of it! After dinner, she blew out candles again and opened the rest of her presents. She knew it was her special day and she was happy to be the Princess for a day!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY SWEET ANGEL!!!

Before I was a mom--I find this very true!

Before I was a Mom Before I was a Mom I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby. I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous. I never thought about immunizations. Before I was a Mom - I had never been puked on. Pooped on. Chewed on. Peed on.. I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts. I slept all night. Before I was a Mom I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests. Or give shots. I never looked into teary eyes and cried. I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin. I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep. Before I was a Mom I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put him down. I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt. I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much. I never knew that I could love someone so much. I never knew I would love being a Mom. Before I was a Mom - I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside ...

Weekend in Jacmel!

Image
This weekend we drove to Jacmel with my friend Kim (and another friend Pam, but she stayed with some other friends) and we stayed with our friend Michelle. We got down to Jacmel late on Friday night and visited my friend Danny and his orphanage, did some catching up with friends, played with Jabez a bit and Bethena too! Now, Bethena's name has been changed to Natalie! So, only to confuse all of you, when I talk about doing therapy with Natalie, I am talking about the Bethena that I have been talking about for the past few months! Just to keep things interesting you know!!! On Saturday I did therapy with Jabez and had a wonderful session with him. He is doing well and making progress. I spent time teaching his mom some new exercises and one of the older girls in the orphanage that spends alot of time playing with him some things to do to help Jabez move forward in his development. I tried to do some therapy with Natalie too, but she was not feeling well and really wasn't...
