A day at the beach!

Some of you may know, that I have a group here in Haiti visiting and doing some work. One of my professors from graduate school is here with five 16 year old boys. One of the boys is my professors son, and he had to do a community service project for Eagle Scouts. So, they contacted me and asked if they could do anything here in Haiti. I spoke with my friend, Pierre, who has a small school in a very poor and rural village and we decided that they could build a playground for the school. So, the boys fundraised, organized, packed up and came to Haiti!!!! They are having a blast. The first day that they were here, they went shopping for the materials. They got to see alot of Port au Prince during this adventure! The next day, they got the entire swing set up and the kids at the school were having a blast. Saturday was a fun day. I took them up to Kaliko beach and they played and relaxed! Sunday was church and today (Monday) they are back at it, building monkey bars and such to complete a playground. They'll be here until Wednesday when they'll fly back to the cold and snowy Rhode Island!

We all had a relaxing and fun day at the pool. Ecrissa and Kim had a blast lounging around on the raft!!!!

Jaryse was enoying the small pool and was jumping in and going under the water and just being a playful 3 year old boy!!!! It is so fun to watch these kids as they gain confidence in themselves and play more on their own and try new things!

Kim, Ecrissa and Jaryse were enjoying being pulled around the pool by our friend Art. Ecrissa thought she was a Princess, Jaryse was a bit nervous and Kim, well, she was along for the ride!

After all that work, Art needed a nap!!!

I'll try to send more pics soon of the playground and of the boys doing their awesome work!!!!
